Small City Front Carden

This small front garden in Cambridge I designed and landscaped in Spring 2024. The owners wanted to keep the existing weeping cherry tree and wanted space to stall their bicycles. Looking for a way to visually connect the slate paths to the chequerboard pattern of the front path I put in some square tiles of different sizes, fading as it were into the slate chippings.

Victorian Folly Borders

The owners of this original Victorian 'Folly' in Saffron Walden asked me to redesign the herbaceous borders in front of it. These had become gappy and tired. I removed the plants that didn't work for me and designed a new planting scheme around the remaining ones. The underlying approach was to use mainly low growing plants as the borders were already quite elevated and sloping, and focus on contrasting leaf textures and colours rather than showy flowers.
